Sam is the interim Divisional Director for Digital Delivery at the Office for National Statistics – the home of official data, from baby names to GDP and everything in between. She worked in the public sector for almost 30 years, starting pretty much at the bottom as a filing clerk. She has had an interesting and varied career taking in Intellectual property law, HR, contact centres, websites and large scale digital transformation programmes.
Her current challenge is to move the 80+ existing paper-based surveys online, with a special mention for the 2021 Census which will be the first ‘online-first Census’, involving everyone in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. Or as she likes to think of it – 68 million people and 18 million households.
